When you have two dinosaur obsessed children who are constantly taking your phone to look up facts about the prehistoric creatures then you know you have to do something about it, even if it is only to save your phone! I have already done a post on fiction books with dinosaurs younger readers will enjoy, (see previous post) but this one is all about the cold, hard facts.
Giggles (8) has been into dinosaurs from when he was 4 and he is at a place where he wants to know a bit more about different dinosaurs -- the age they lived in, their predators, habitat, size, etc. The first book introduces readers to the different periods and the dinosaurs that belonged to those eras. Vivid pictures of the dinosaurs and their habitats make for very interesting reading.
The DK book digs (pun intended!) even deeper. This book takes the reader through evolution, what a dinosaur is, their classification, what life looked like in each of the eras from the Mesozoic to the Cenozoic, and even detailed bits of info on features of the dinosaurs. The DK book also has an interesting section on present fossil sites around the world.
These are books that will grow with your child and books that they can keep coming back to every time they have a dinosaur query. What better way to feed a child's curiosity than supplying them with the information they can immerse themselves in! Trust me, these books are worth every penny you pay!
