This book is downright, no questions asked, indisputably funny! Let's start with the absolute basics -- it is a bright yellow book with a pink monster on the front!
Moin hears a strange noise under his bed one night. Turns out it is a monster that can't come out until Moin draws him a form! Moin proceeds to draw the cutest monster you ever laid eyes on including autorickshaw horns for ears! Once the monster comes to life, he has to live with his creator for life, according to the Monster Book rule. What follows is sheer hilarity with the monster getting into one situation after another and Moin and his friends trying to keep him a secret.
This book does a great job of introducing the humour genre to early chapter book readers. It hooks and draws them in ensuring they can't put the book down until they finish! What I loved about it is the brilliant idea of taking a childhood fear of monsters under the bed and turning it into something you simply can't un-see. Add crazy ideas like Monster book of rules and some really relatable characters like Moin's friends and this book is a winner and definitely one I love recommending! Anitha Balachandran's illustrations are adorable, endearing and will remain in your memory long after you are done with the book.
