The Big Book of Words and Pictures, Ole Kõnnecke
This rather well-worn book in my home has kept both my boys company on the many evenings I've asked them to keep themselves occupied while I make dinner. This was an impulse purchase from an NYC book store way back in 2013, but boy has it paid back and more!
In the words of Gurgles, my 4-year-old boy, "The little people in the book really look like they are having so much fun!" Each beautifully illustrated page has words of things children actually see around them. It teaches them fun concepts and helps them out a picture to words they hear every day.
Goes to show that kids can find stories in the simplest of pictures. I vote for this book to be declared a must-read for all first readers!
